Description

Built this thing in 2018 based off a budget build video from Paul's Hardware. I've used it almost everyday since I built it. This pc has done me well. I bought it for around $1100. The prices listed for the MOBO, GPU, and PSU are all guesses of what those parts are worth now. I intend to either sell this pc or just use it to host servers for my friends.

Part Reviews

CPU

Has worked very well for me for 4 years and temps are always pretty good; never have had to remove the box fan. Overall a great cpu when I got it and it still runs decently well.

Motherboard

Absolutely amazing MOBO, came with all the wires I needed and the wifi worked great until I got an ethernet connection. Bios is super easy to use and it is a Strix board so obviously build quality is pretty good.

Memory

Decent ram, got it for cheap on-sale (new) and it never throttles. Not much else to say.

Storage

Boots windows super fast and the games I do have on it boot up pretty quick.

Storage

Got this bad boy out of my old macbook, was honestly super surprised to see such a good HDD in the macbook. Had to format it for windows and do some finnicky stuff but got it to work and for an HDD is pretty fast.

Storage

Good, cheap HDD. Not much to say....

Video Card

Surprisingly fast... I bought this GPU for roughly $450 when it was still fairly new and it has yet to disappoint. I overclocked it a little so it is on par with a 1080 and even to this day can run games on high/ultra settings 1080 120fps+. Really good bang for the buck back when I got it and is still good for the price used now.

Case

Good case for the money when I got it, especially compared to other mini-itx cases this one was probably one of the best. Was a little bit of a nightmare to cable manage since you only get about 1.5 inches of space in the back to stuff all the cables (my PSU was not modular). Comes with 2 fans pre-installed which saves a lot of hassle and is also a nice looking case. Wouldn't recommend but also wouldn't say don't buy it at all.

Power Supply

Got this over a 650watt semi modular variant because it was cheaper. I was stupid. I thought the 100 more watts would help in some way but given my specs it didn't matter at all. Wish I got a modular PSU but oh well. Hasn't short circuited or died or anything yet and probably never will. Guess it works...
